Dow Leads, Two Top Names Wait

Blue chips led while tech stalled; two names reached the top tier, but one is in a downtrend and the other reports in six sessions, so both call for patience.

The Signal

The Dow gained about one percent on strong earnings from 3M while the Nasdaq went nowhere and the broad market edged up. Buying flows still outnumber selling flows, but price structure remains cautious. Bullish turns are bunching in financials and industrials, bearish turns in health care, technology and energy.

The Noise

Yesterday's tech bounce did not follow through, and worries about heavy borrowing for artificial intelligence build-outs are still there. The Dow's strength looks more like rotation into old-economy names than a sign the whole market has turned.

Multi-Signal Confluence

Axon Enterprise (AXON): money flow turned up on a higher low, but the stock is still in a downtrend, the valuation is very rich, and a major broker trimmed its target today. Next report around November 10, date unconfirmed.

Raymond James (RJF): the same early turn at a calmer valuation of about thirteen times earnings, but it reports October 28 after the close, the same day as the Fed decision. Wait for the print.

Devon Energy (DVN): price rose while the money behind it faded, the one bearish pattern that has held up. Reports November 5 after the close.
