Quiet tape before CPI

A flat, waiting session ahead of September inflation; the only top-tier setup was a beaten-down food stock, while health care joined tech in flashing early bearish turns.

The Signal

Stocks finished roughly flat, with the Nasdaq and the Dow slightly lower. More names saw money flowing out than in, but higher lows still far outnumber fresh lows. Early bullish turns over the past week sit in industrials and real estate; early bearish turns sit in technology and now health care.

The Noise

There was no clear story behind today's tape, and we are not inventing one. The real driver is tomorrow's September CPI, forecast hotter than last month. A market that does nothing the day before a big print is not telling you much, so the setups below should be sized with that event in mind.

Multi-Signal Confluence

Hormel Foods (HRL): the scan's only top-tier setup. A reversal candle after a washout, improving money flow and a model fair value well above price. But it is still making lower lows, revenue is flat and EPS is down about half; BNP cut its target to 23. Next report about seven weeks out.

AbbVie (ABBV): the bearish counterpart. Higher highs that money flow did not confirm, a distribution pattern. Revenue growth near ten percent, rich trailing multiple, reports around 10-30. Not one to chase into the print.

Charter (CHTR): deeply oversold, with money flow turning up while price fell. Only one read, and revenue is shrinking slightly. Reports around 11-06. Watch only.
