Chips Slip, Money Moves to Real Assets

A chip-led pullback hit the Nasdaq while the Dow held up, and the money leaving momentum tech is showing up in real estate and steady cash-flow names.

The Signal

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell for a second day as semiconductors sold off on renewed doubts about AI spending, with oil and Treasury yields both rising. The Dow finished slightly higher. Money flow across our universe still leans to selling, but far more stocks are making higher lows than lower lows. Bullish turns cluster in real estate and staples; bearish turns sit in technology and a few momentum names.

The Noise

Two down days near records invite talk of a top. The data reads as rotation instead: bulls and bears sit in different sectors, and a longer reversal pattern fired for the first time in days, in a mall landlord rather than a chipmaker. Next week's inflation print matters more for these setups than today's tech selloff.

Multi-Signal Confluence

Simon Property Group, the largest US mall owner, completed a longer pullback-and-recover pattern today, the only stock in our universe to do so, with buying pressure turning up on a higher low. Fundamentals are solid and guidance was raised, but the trend is still down and rates are the risk.

Invitation Homes, the largest single-family rental owner, shows buying pressure turning up on a higher low, the setup that has held up best in our testing. It is the only read lining up so far, so it needs confirmation.

GE Aerospace is a revisit: three reads now agree after a slide from about 349 dollars to 306, backed by a strong last quarter. Earnings are expected within one to two weeks, which makes this event risk, not extra conviction.
